To enrich the extracurricular activities CSK offers, the English Language Centre will now run an extended session most months, offering students something extra special related to the current ELC theme. Our current theme is one most dear to our students' hearts: food!
We ran a pancake-making workshop where students followed instructions together to prepare the ingredients, with help from the NET teachers. This was followed by ladling the batter into the pans, cooking, and the occasional flipping of the pancakes into the air. Lastly, and most importantly, they could choose which toppings to put on their pancakes; these included a mix of traditional British, Hong Kong, and South African styles such as cinnamon sugar and condensed milk.
The proof is in the pudding, they say, and our students quickly began testing their creations to see how they turned out. Not a scrap of pancake was left at the end; our students left feeling a sense of achievement and with happy stomachs.
